Gaiwan“Gaiwan”literally means“covered or lidded bowl”in Chinese. It is perhaps the most versatile of all tea brewing tools. We have two formulations to bring out the best of different types of teas. Our earthenware pottery gaiwan brews heavily oxidized and fired teas exceptionally well (ex. Pu-erh, Tiequanyin, and charcoal fired oolongs). The result is a rich and mellow taste.Our gaiwan can best bring out a tea’s fragrance (best for light oolongs, green teas).

Through acute observations into daily life and the will of promoting “Every Day is a Beautiful Day” ideal, the main focus of “Through the Tracery” is to foster a conversation between Asia and Europe, bridging its gaps, by bringing together design teams from all over the world, inducing eastern cultural aesthetics into western forms through the innovative the “River-Stone Tea Set” and “Divan Tea Set” and expand into the European and American territories. The “Swimming Fish Gaiwan” is specially designed for this exhibition to be the visual focus. Utilizing the classic brown-white dual colors, it employs a minimalistic design, and acts as a historical testimony to how Lin’s Ceramics Studio, under the guidance of the company founder Lin, Jung-Kuo, stood up to any challenge since its establishment in 1983.
