In the beginning

“In order to make everyday life more enjoyable, we have to improve our daily utensils, such as pots, bowls, scoops, plates, etc.”
“It requires a broad and solid cultural foundation to establish a good brand name. In addition, tea has many aspects involving knowledge from several fields, and tea culture has profound depth.”
Following the blossoming of tea culture in Taiwan in the 1980s, with the above ideals in mind, Lin’s Ceramics Studio was established in 1983. We started from one very small pot. Now, we have grown into a professional brand name offering entire tea sets of our own creation. Before the establishment of our current Ceramics Studio, our work underwent two stages, reflected in the signatures on the crafts. In the first stage, the crafts bore the signature of“國”(guo, it means country in Chinese). They were the ceramics made by the founder Lin Guorong about 20 years ago right after his graduation. In the second stage, the crafts bore the signature of“雙木林”(Lin is a Chinese surname, and it is made up of two characters that represent wood“木”). They were wares he made when he started his brand name, as a continuation of his works from the first stage.

A Pioneer in complete Tea sets

When Lin’s Ceramics Studio was established, it set its goal to be a brand name for creative cultural products that would last for a hundred years. To accomplish this goal, the studio integrated different ideas and techniques into the art of ceramics crafts. With professional ceramics manufacturing skills, the studio endeavored to make a series of tea sets. To achieve this goal, we integrate“artistic concerns, professional know-how, and practical consideration, along with creativity into each craft” as core concepts. We not only make innovations in form and color, but also in the originality of our concepts. More importantly, we care about the usefulness of a crafts’ application. In order to bring tea-drinking closer into everyday life we created our improved tea stand sets, executive tea-mugs. In order to improve the taste of the water we use to brew tea, we developed our traditional charcoal kettle set, the best kettle commercially available. In the 2000s, more than 80% of tea-houses in Taiwan used the wares from Lin’s Ceramics Studio. In order to conserve water resources and purify the tea drinking process, we proposed the“dry brewing”method to allow different kinds of tea to demonstrate their features. As a result, we created the versatile Purion Series, and the Ju Ware Series, modern wares closely duplicating the official kilns of the Song Dynasty. To make your tea experience memorable, we have even proposed a breakthrough concept–“enhancing the tea’s quality with fine crafts, and brewing good tea with suitable wares.”
